Software
Linda is the team owner of ' Zylkerin ' - A team that manages all software projects. The software sector works with different type of work items across people with various skill sets.
Why do they need custom fields and layouts?
Linda manages members across different skill sets and type of work. She will handle members in the development, design, testing, and marketing fields. Every field of work will have a different set of requirements and details. Members should find relevant fields that help them define their requirements effectively.
Default fields vs Custom fields
Default fields are predefined across all the projects in the team. These fields are the basic entities of a work item that define the common requirements of a work item.
Custom fields are user-defined entities that define specific requirements of the work item. It is helpful when you have projects with different goals.
Development related projects need not carry the same requirements as a design project. (or) A marketing project will not carry entities similar to a testing project. Defining custom fields and layouts will simplify the work.
Linda creates a layout
Linda creates a layout called 'IT Service'. In this layout, she can add all the fields that are relevant to the software industry.
Linda creates sections in the layout
A section is similar to a header that you define to similar set of fields. A layout is formed with sections and fields. Linda, creates two sections in her layout 'IT Service'.
