Creating a discussion channel

Connect everyone in your event with discussion channels. Channel messages can use markdown to highlight words, emphasize phrases, or add links.

Note: When you create or modify a discussion channel you do not need to republish the microsite as it will be automatically updated.

Adding a new discussion channel

Create a discussion channel to bring together those who want to talk about a particular topic in one platform.



  1. Click the Design tab in the Microsite Builder.
  2. Click Discussions in the navigation bar on the top.
  3. Click  in the Channels pane on the left to open the Create Channel pop-up box.
  4. Enter a channel name, which can be a title or a topic that people will be discussing during the event.
  5. Add members by selecting from the list of speakers, organizers, and other attendees.
  6. Describe the purpose of the channel in the Description text box of 120 words or less.
  7. Set the access permission for the channel to public or private based on your preference.
  8. Click Add New.
Note: As an organizer, you will already be a part of all the discussion channels in the event.

Edit a discussion channel

Modify the name, description, and member list of the discussion channel.



  1. Click the Design tab in the Microsite Builder.
  2. Click Discussions in the navigation bar on the top.
  3. Click  in the right pane of a discussion channel.
  4. Edit the channel name and description if necessary. You can include or remove members in the Add Members text box.
  5. Click Save.

To remove a discussion channel

  1. Click  in the right pane of a discussion channel in the Discussion page in the microsite design.
  2. Click Delete.

Join a discussion channel

Be part of discussion channels that are created by other organizers and interact with attendees at your event.



  1. Click the Design tab in the Microsite Builder.
  2. Click Discussions in the navigation bar on the top.
  3. Click the View link in the Channels pane to open the Channel List pop-up box.
  4. Click the Join button associated with the channel you want to join.
  5. Click Close to navigate to the Discussions page in the microsite design.
You can only set up discussion channels in the Enterprise and Ultimate plans.
