DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM)

DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is a security mechanism adopted for email marketing services to validate an email message. Its specific purpose is to:
  1. Check if the email messages were sent from a valid source.
  2. Check if the email messages were not tampered with in transit.

DKIM further ensures that email messages would get delivered to the inbox of its intended recipient because the validity of the email message has already been verified.


Domainkeys

It is an email authentication system of public/private key to verify the origin of an email through DNS and is designed to validate the email sender as well as check the integrity of the message. The mail server (zcsend.net) inserts a special header into the outgoing email signed with an encrypted code which is decrypted by the receiving mail server using the public key contained in the DNS text record. Although, it has become outdated but there are major email client such as Yahoo! which still uses this protocol.
