Managing social merge tags

You can include merge tags for sharing the email campaign on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to get a better reach in social media. This will let your leads share your email campaign on social media. 

How is social merge tag helpful?

You can use these tags to ensure that irrespective of the type of campaign you might be sending, you have a channel to bring them into social media. This means, you don't have to create social campaigns to bring out something onto social media instead you can bring any type of campaign in social media.

You might know that you need to have atleast 2000 followers in your page for you to post social campaigns. If you're a growing organization and yet to get 2000 followers, you can use these social merge tags to establish your presence in the social media. Your leads can like or share your normal email campaigns if you use these merge tags. This will give you the required publicity in social media until your page gain 2000 followers.

List of social tags

Let’s have a look at different types of social share Tags.

You can view all the types of social links available under social merge tags by following these steps,

1. From the Navigation toolbar, go to Settings and select  Merge tags

2. Click Social share tags tab in the list of tabs available under merge tags.

3. You can view the following list.


Using Social Merge Tags

1. In Content section of campaign creation, select one of our content options such as designed templates, or HTML editor or any other option. 

2. Choose the text component, mouse over to Merge Tags section, select Social merge tags.

3. Click on the tag you want.


4. Click Save and proceed after making all the changes in your content.

If you've chosen HTML or text editor, you have to copy and paste the tag in the editor.

These tags are represented as links that would take user to social media. These are social sharing links which allow your lead to share the campaign on social sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. 

  • To share on Facebook - $[SS:FBLIKELINK]$
  • To share on Twitter -$[SS:TWTWEETLINK]$
  • To share on LinkedIn - $[SS:LNSHARELINK]$
  • To share on Pinterest  -$[SS:PIN_LINK]$
  • To share on Google Plus - $[SS:GP_SHARE_LINK]$

Use href tag to add link based tags. 
For e.g. <a href=”$[SS:FBLIKELINK]$”>Like</a>

 Icon-Based Tags

These tags are represented as icons that would take user to social media. These are social sharing icons which allow your lead to share the campaign on social sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.  In an icon based tag, “Like” is the title tag and “Like this” is the Alt text for the icon.

  • To share on LinkedIn - $[SS:LNSHAREICON|Share|Share this]$

Icon merge tags are not supported in text format.
