Publishing and Scheduling

Publishing and Scheduling

With the Zoho Social mobile app, you can manage your social media presence on different channels– everything from creating and scheduling new posts, monitoring what's being said about you, to analyzing posts based on real-time metrics— all while you're on the move! The Zoho Social mobile app is available on both iOS and Android platforms.

Brand Health stats will appear on your screen as soon as you open your app. Brand Health metrics will show the performance of your social channels over the past 30 days. You can monitor four key metrics—Total Audience, Active Audience, Engagement, and Stories Created

Brand Health stats are not available for LinkedIn Profiles and Google My Business listings due to API limitations.

Creating a New Post

To get started with creating your post, click
at the top right corner of your screen to access the compose screen.

Switching between Brands on the Compose screen

  1. Click on your Brand name to view a drop-down list of all the Brands you've connected to your Portal on Zoho Social.

  2. From the drop-down on your compose screen, select the Brand for which you'd like to make the post.

Selecting your Social Channels

  1. Click on the top left of your compose screen to view a list of the social channels you've connected to your Brand.

  2. Select the social channel(s) for which you'd like to make a post.

  3. You can also pin your social channels to the compose box. The pinned social channels will be selected by default every time you open the compose screen.

To enable Twitter keyboard for easy access to @ and # symbols, go to Settings, select App Preferences, and enable the toggle switch next to Twitter keyboard. (Available for iOS devices only)

Hashtags

To include hashtags in your post add the # symbol followed by the tag. However, matching suggestions will not appear and they will be hyperlinked once you publish your post on the channel.

Twitter advises using no more than 2 hashtags per Tweet. Posting too many hashtags on the same post could be flagged as spam by Twitter. Zoho Social will also indicate you to reduce the number of hashtags if you try posting more 10 hashtags in a single tweet.

Hashtags posted to your Google My Business listing will not be hyperlinked.

@Mentions

Twitter: To mention Twitter profiles in your posts, use the @ symbol followed by the username. However, matching suggestions will not appear in the compose screen for you to choose from. So, make sure you use the correct username while mentioning a Twitter profile.

Instagram: You can tag Instagram Profiles in your post. However, matching suggestions will not appear when you use the @ symbol followed by the username. So, make sure you use the correct username while mentioning an Instagram profile.

You cannot @mention profiles for Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google My Business.

Adding a CTA button for your GMB posts

Zoho Social lets you schedule and publish posts to your Google My Business listing. You can publish "What's New" posts to your business listing and also add a CTA button with each post that will redirect your audience to a website. Here's how you can add a CTA button to your post:
  1. Make sure that you have selected the Google My Business social channel from the Publishing window that appears when you click on the New Post button.

  2. Click the icon from your compose screen and select a CTA button from the pop-up that appears: Learn More, Sign Up, Order Online, Book, or Buy.

  3. Enter the link to a website and click Add.

  1. Click Edit to makes changes to specific images on the compose screen.

  2. You will have a wide range of editing options such as filters, image resizing, and cropping tools.

We also provide a crop screen specific to the Instagram allowed dimensions for uploading images.

Resizing images to publish directly on Instagram

While posting an image on Instagram via Zoho Social, you may have to resize your image to fit the aspect ratio and dimensions defined by this network.
If you don't resize the image, Zoho Social will seek your permission post via the Instagram app.

Each network has different uploading requirements, so we've put together a table for you in case you want to check whether your image specifications match with each network’s uploading criteria when you're publishing via Zoho Social.

When you type/paste a link on the compose screen, you can choose to shorten the URL by clicking the orange link shortening icon on the bottom left corner of your compose screen.

  1. To automatically shorten all the links pasted on your compose screen by default, click the icon on the top left corner of the Home screen and go to Settings.

  2. Click on Publishing Settings and enable the toggle for the option, Auto Shorten Links.

Thumbnail previews

Thumbnail previews are automatically generated when you type/paste a link in the compose screen. This reflects how your audience would view your post if you share the same link natively from the social channel.
  1. Facebook: On Dec 18, 2017 Facebook removed the ability to customize link attachments. That means, a thumbnail will be automatically set for the link, which you cannot edit.

To customize the thumbnail image of the links before you publish them to your Facebook page, you'll first have to
    verify your domain on Facebook.
  1. Twitter: Your post will have a thumbnail preview automatically generated from the link. Click to choose an image from the suggestions and click Post this thumbnail on Twitter to finalize the thumbnail preview for the tweet.
  1. LinkedIn: Your post will have a thumbnail preview automatically generated from the link. You can navigate and select a different thumbnail image by clicking >.

You will not be able to post to Instagram without uploading an image. All links posted on Instagram and Google My Business channels will not generate a thumbnail preview.

Offline Drafts

In case you accidentally close your compose screen when you're crafting your post– worry not! All your content will be retained. You can retrieve it by reopening the compose screen from the mobile app. (Available for iOS devices only)

Worried about low internet connection? With the Zoho Social mobile app, you can create content on the move and save your posts as offline drafts. All your draft posts will be synced to your account automatically as soon as you connect to the internet.

You can find all the posts you have saved as drafts under the
Posts section.

All post that fail to go live when you click Publish Now will be saved as an Offline Draft.

Scheduling your posts

1) Once you're done crafting your post, click
Next on the compose screen.

2) The screen will display options like:
Publish Now, Custom Schedule, SmartQ, CustomQ, and Save as Draft.

  1. Publish Now: If you click Publish Now, your post will instantly go live on all the social channels you selected from the compose screen.

  2. Custom Schedule: If you click on Custom Schedule, the screen will display a calendar for you to choose a date and time to schedule your post. You can also choose to Repeat your post once every week or month till a period of time, and then click Schedule.

  3. SmartQ: As you publish more content, SmartQ will start to predict the best time to post based on your audience engagement. If you don't find a date and time suggestion under SmartQ for some reason, you can click Custom Schedule to head back to the calendar view and then schedule your post.

  4. CustomQ: If you click CustomQ, the screen will display a pop-up box where you can add your post to a publishing Queue that you've set up for your Brand.

If you haven't yet set up Queue slots for your Brand already, go to
Settings, click Queue Settings, and add Time Slots to your publishing Queue. Setting up a pre-determined schedule for your content is useful if you want to maintain a consistent posting schedule so your audience can expect to see content from you at regular intervals. A CustomQ helps you ensure that your content is spread out and avoid overlapping schedules.

  5. Save as Draft: You can always choose to save your draft post by clicking on this option. You'll also have the option to save a draft post if you happen to close the compose screen before scheduling your post.

Pause and Resume Scheduled posts

To pause all the scheduled posts for this Brand, go to Settings, select Publishing Settings, and enable the toggle for Pause Posts. This will effectively hold all scheduled posts from going live on your Brand. Your screen will reflect the message,
I'm pausing all posts here, to let your team members know about your action.

The Pause feature in Zoho Social helps you with unforeseen emergency situations when you may need to put your scheduled posts on hold. Working as an in-built crisis button, it puts all your scheduled-posts on hold with a single click until you resume them.

You can disable the toggle switch to resume your publishing schedule.
