Role/group address

Role/group address

Email addresses such as  admin@ ,  support@ , etc. from different product/service organizations are known as 'role' or 'group' addresses. Generally, these addresses involve a company, department, position, or group of employees.

These group address are created for specific purpose or for communication within an organization and are not intended to receive email campaigns or any other marketing related emails. Perhaps one or two among the group may be interested in your campaigning emails, but for the rest of the recipients it's just irrelevant and unwanted emails flooding their inbox.

A few reasons to say no to a role/group email address as a contact:

1. Group /role address  never subscribe to any organization  or at least they are not supposed to do so. Maybe one or two members of the group unknowingly subscribed but it is strongly recommended not to add the group email address into your mailing list. If possible, find out the potential leads (people who are interested) from the group and ask them to subscribe to you using their personal/business email address.

2. As discussed in the previous point, only a few among the group may be interested in receiving these emails but others recipients who are members of the group email address may try to mark it as spam . When this happens, you may get more negative score  (from mailbox providers) than usual. In the worst case, you may be blacklisted.

3. As far as role addresses are concerned, there is a completely different risk. Most role addresses are for employees who have direct access to the company network or have the  authority to completely block out  unwanted senders or marketers. So, not only will you be blocked out of that particular group address but you will also be blocked out of the entire corporate domain , leading to the loss of many potential leads within that particular organization.

4. Many antispam agencies create spam traps with role/group addresses  to catch hold of spammers or marketers with poor list collection techniques.

Keeping in mind the reputation of our customers,  Zoho Campaigns  do not allow our customers to import or send emails to group/role address.
