Roles

Overview of roles

Designation of users are classified as roles. For instance, a user can be a designer, coder, or writer on their professional scale. They can be a manager, leader, or mentor an a managerial scale. 

  1. More than one user can be mapped to a role.
             

  1. Also, a user can be assigned more than one role. 
             

Add role 

  1. Navigate to   and select  Access Control  from the left panel. 
  2. Navigate to the  Roles  tab and click  Add Role.
  3. Fill in the details and click  Add.



Edit/delete role

  1. Navigate to   and select  Access Control  from the left panel. 
  2. Navigate to the  Roles  tab and select a role name.
  3. Click    to the right of the role name.
  4. To edit this role, make the modifications and click  Save
  5. To delete this role, click   at the top right corner and confirm your action.



Assign roles to existing users 

  1. Navigate to   and select  Users  from the left panel. 
  2. If the user is not assigned any role yet: 
    1. Click the Add Role button in the Roles column corresponding to the user. 
    2. Pick the role you wish to associate with the user and click   Add Role
  3. If the user is already associated with roles:
    1. Click the    button   next to the existing roles, and click Change user roles
    2. Pick the role you wish to associate with the user and click  Add Role.
If you want to add a new role, click New Role at the top-right corner of the pop-up. 



Users can also be assigned roles when they are added to the organization. Learn more about adding users.

Usage of roles 

Roles are significant while assigning permissions in Layouts and Blueprints. 
  1. Layouts: Specific user roles can be given permission to view or add jobs in Layouts. 
            For instance, permission add jobs in a design related layout can be restricted to Designers alone. 
  1. Blueprints: Specific user roles can be given permission to perform particular transitions in Blueprints.
            For example, any approval related transitions can be restricted for Managers or Reviewers alone.
