Secondary devices in OneAuth

Secondary devices in OneAuth

You can install the OneAuth app on multiple devices and designate one of them as your primary device. This is useful when you don't have the primary device with you but need to log in to your Zoho account. If you happen to have only one device, it will be your primary device by default. You can view your device details on the Devices tab.

How do I setup another device?

  1. Install the OneAuth app on your preferred device.
  2. Enter your login credentials and tap Confirm.
  3. Acknowledge the OneAuth prompt on your primary device that notifies the login to your secondary device.
  4. You will see three options for the current device: Make as primary deviceMake as secondary deviceConfigure later.
  5. If you choose Make as primary device, your current device will become the primary device and will receive all notifications regarding sign-in. Your previous primary device will be designated as a secondary device.
  6. If you choose Make as secondary device, the device will become a secondary one and you will only be able to use the authentication mode that you have already configured on your primary device. The next time you don't have the primary device with you, you can use the secondary device to authenticate into your account. If you change your authentication mode on your primary device, it will be reflected on your secondary device.
  7. If you choose Configure later, you will only be able to use the Active Sessions feature with Single Sign-on enabled for the device. We do not recommend using this option.
Having another device with OneAuth installed can be very useful. Here are some scenarios where having another device with OneAuth installed can be of help to you:

Case: You don't have access to your primary device, but you have access to your secondary device.
Solution
Right after you enter your login credentials in the web, you will need to authenticate yourself on your primary device. Now that you don't have access to your primary device, after a 60 second timeout you'll see a link that says. 'Can't access your device? '. Use that link to choose your secondary device as your preferred device for authentication.

Case: You don't have access to your primary device, but you have access to a device which you have chosen to configure later.
Solution: You will be able to access your Zoho account, but only if you have one time backup verification codes with you:
  1. Enter your login credentials and click Confirm.
  2. Click Can't access your phone?
  3. Choose I already have the one time backup verification code and click Proceed.
  4. Enter your one time backup verification code and click Verify Code.
  5. You will now have access to your Zoho account.
  6. If you don't have the backup codes with you, please contact Zoho Accounts support.
You can get your one time backup verification codes by navigating to the Two-Factor Authentication section and clicking Manage backup verification codes.

Case: You don't have your primary device with you, or you have lost your primary device, and you have not installed OneAuth on any other device.
Solution: You will be able to access your Zoho account if you have the one time backup verification codes with you. If you don't have the backup codes with you, please contact Zoho Accounts support.
