Vonage for Workerly

The extension is available only for the US DC users.

Installing the extension

You can either go to the Zoho Marketplace and install the Vonage extension, or log in to your Zoho Workerly account and install.

To install Vonage extension:


  1. Go to Setup > Extensions & APIs > Marketplace.
  2. Click All Extensions, browse for and click Vonage.
    The details about the extension will be available.
  3. Click Install Now.
  4. Agree to the terms of service and click Install Now.
  5. Click Agree and Continue in Privacy Declaration.
  6. In Choose Users/Profiles, select one of the following options:
  • Install for admins only
  • Install for all users
  • Choose profiles

If you select the Choose profiles option, select all the profiles you want the  extension to install for. Click Confirm.

  1. Enter the API Key and API Secret.
  2. Click Save.


If you click 
Skip in this step, you can later authorize from Vonage extension details page.

Note: To get the API key and the API secret:
  1. Log in to your Vonage account.
  2. Under your account's profile, click the settings option.
  3. Copy the API key from the corresponding field, then paste it in the extension details page in Zoho Workerly.
  4. Repeat the previous step for the API secret.

Sending SMS messages

You can send SMS messages to your temps and contacts in Zoho Workerly in two ways: either from the list view page or from the detail page.
  1. Select the desired temp or contact that you wish to send an SMS.
  2. Click Send SMS.
  3. You can either choose a message from an already existing template, or write a new SMS to send.
  4. Click the Send button.



A report on the number of SMS messages sent will open in front of you, wherein you can see how many failed in reaching the final destination.

Sending voice messages

To send voice messages, perform the following actions:
  1. Select the desired temp or contact that you want to send a voice message to.
  2. Click Send Voice Message
  3. Use one of the following methods to create your message:
  • Text to speech: You can either choose a message from an already existing template, or enter a piece of text in the text area and choose a suitable voice. The system will automatically convert the text to speech.
  • Upload audio: This will automatically send the audio file as a voice message.
  • IVR: Select an already created IVR messages.
  1. Click Send.



Once this is done, you can check the status of the voice message by viewing the corresponding temp or contact.

Creating IVR messages

  1. Go to the Vonage web tab in Zoho Workerly.
  2. Click on the IVR Menu subtab. 
  3. Click Create New IVR and enter the details as required:
  • IVR Name: Enter a desired name for the IVR (this will be helpful while mapping).
  • Greetings: Enter a greeting message or upload an audio file. This message will be played to the user.
  • Actions: Enter the phone number to which the incoming call is to be directed upon dialling a number.

Configuring incoming calls and SMS

The following settings need to be set to receive incoming SMS and calls to your Vonage number.

  1. Go to the Vonage web tab in Zoho Workerly.
  2. Click the Numbers subtab.
  3. Select Inbound SMS.
  4. Using the IVR Menu (for inbound calls) option, map the desired IVR menu with the corresponding phone number.



The IVR menu will be mapped with the number, and will be played to the user when an incoming call arrives.

Uninstalling the extension

You can uninstall the Vonage extension whenever you wish. Remember that deleting this extension will delete all its associated data as well. 
To uninstall the Vonage extension:
  1. Click Setup > Marketplace > All.
    All the installed extensions will be listed.
  2. Browse for Vonage and click the corresponding Uninstall link.
  3. Click OK to confirm.
