WorkDrive TrueSync (beta version for Windows)

Overview

WorkDrive's TrueSync app lets you create a virtual drive of your WorkDrive account in computer to access all your files without actually downloading any of your files. This saves your storage space on the computer.

Let's say you've got 250 GB of hard drive space. With the TrueSync virtual drive, you can still access and work with over 1 TB of your data in WorkDrive.

TrueSync also lets you sync files in Zoho WorkDrive web to your computer, and vice versa.

With TrueSync, the data on your computer is available either online only or offline.
Online only
Online-only files and folders don’t occupy any hard drive space. You can view the files and folders, but they are not actually downloaded until you open them.

Available offline
Files and folders in this state are downloaded and available on your hard drive. You can directly work on these items; any changes will be automatically synced with the WorkDrive web app.

Just like the default WorkDrive Sync app, you simply need to drag and drop or copy and paste files and folders from your system to the TrueSync virtual drive to upload them to the relevant Team Folder or My Folders.

  1. TrueSync app is currently in the beta version and is available only for Windows computers.

  2. TrueSync app is available for all WorkDrive plans.

Install and set up TrueSync

1. Download the TrueSync app for Windows OS (Download Link).

2. Double-click the downloaded file to execute the installation.

Installation can only be done with Administrator privilege. Standard users will be prompted to provide Administrator credentials to proceed with the installation.
A setup window will open.

3. Click Install. After installation, a login window will open.

4. Enter your Zoho account credentials to sign in. You can also sign in using Google, Office 365, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Yahoo accounts. If you don't have a Zoho account, click Sign Up to create your new Zoho account.

You will be redirected to the setup wizard.

5. Click Start Sync.

Once the setup is complete, a virtual drive with all your files and folders in WorkDrive will automatically appear in your hard drive.



Notes
  1. By default, all your files and folders will only be available online only.
  2. When you upload files into an offline folder, those files will be made offline.
  3. In a folder, you can choose to make some files online only and some offline.

To make your file or folder available online only:

1. Go to File Explorer and select Zoho WorkDrive (Z:) in the left pane. The WorkDrive TrueSync virtual drive will open on your computer.
2. Right-click a file or folder and select WorkDrive TrueSync.
3. Select Online only.

To make your file or folder available offline:

1. Go to File Explorer and select Zoho WorkDrive (Z:) in the left pane. The WorkDrive TrueSync virtual drive will open on your computer.
2. Right-click a file or folder and select WorkDrive TrueSync.
3. Select Available offline.

Note
You can select multiple files and folders, and make them available online only or offline.

TrueSync Status Icons




Online only
Files are only available online. When you open a file, it will then be downloaded to your computer for preview. Once you close the file, it will no longer be available on your computer.

Sync Status - Available Offline 
Available offline
Files have been downloaded to your computer, and are available offline. Downloaded files will take up the required hard drive space.


Partial sync 
When a folder has a combination of cloud only and offline files, the partial sync icon will be shown as the status.


Sync in progress
The TrueSync app lets you sync files in the WorkDrive web app with your virtual drive, and vice-versa. When you make some files offline in the virtual drive, the progress icon will be shown as the status until the files are downloaded to your computer. When files are uploaded or modified in the web app or virtual drive, the progress status icon will be shown until the sync is completed.


Sync error
When there's an error in syncing or downloading files in your virtual drive, the sync error status icon will be shown over the files. Once the issue is fixed, the file will be synced, and the appropriate status icon will be shown.


To copy permalink of a file or folder

1. Go to File Explorer and select Zoho WorkDrive (Z:) in the left pane. The WorkDrive TrueSync virtual drive will open on your computer.
2. Right-click a file or folder and select WorkDrive TrueSync.
3. Select Copy WorkDrive link. You will then be able to manually share the link with your team members via email or chat.
You can only select one file or folder at a time to copy its permalink or view it on the web app.

Info
If you have already installed the Sync app on your computer, you can still install and use TrueSync. Based on your requirement, you can use either the TrueSync or Sync app, and uninstall the other app.
