I don't want the events that I am invited to be displayed on my calendar without my approval. How do I configure my settings for this?
You can restrict the events to which you are invited from being added to your calendar automatically. For that, edit your calendar settings and reconfigure your "Automatic invitation permission" option as "don't allow".
